Alvaiázere has 8 short routes (PR1 to PR8) and 2 long-distance routes (GR35, 53 km long, and the GR26 Terras de Sicó). The flattest is PR6 Ramalhal (8.5 km, 76 m elevation gain); the most demanding is PR4 Megalápias (13.4 km, 4h30). Always check with the municipality that the trail is open.
Before you set off: Alvaiázere municipality warns that some trails may be temporarily impassable (overgrown vegetation or flooded streams). Check their status on the trails page (in Portuguese) or at the Tourist Office.
From the town centre it climbs to the foot of the Serra de Alvaiázere, through oak woods, olive groves and thyme meadows. It passes the Nossa Senhora dos Covões chapel and a viewpoint over the Alvaiázere plain, and returns through the Carrascal wood.

Climbs the Serra de Ariques among holm oaks and rocks, along shepherds' paths, and descends into the Vale da Mata. It has a technical stretch by the stream and a steep climb — for walkers with some experience.

Follows the so-called “Roman Road” to the Vale da Couda, climbs the Serra Pequena and descends with views over the Fórnea do Bofinho, a large karst depression with olive groves. It passes the Olho do Tordo spring.

In the Natura 2000 network: the Bofinho doline, the Fórnea, a patch of Portuguese oak and large limestone pavements (lapiás), skirting the Serra de Alvaiázere with views of the town.

Along the Ribeira do Tordo stream, past ruined watermills, to the Olho do Tordo spring; back through pines and limestone pavements. One of the easiest.

The flattest trail in the network, among holm and kermes oaks, with rural architecture and megalithic monuments around 5,000 years old.

Descends to the Foz de Alge stream and follows the bank to the river beach, returning along the hillside through the Charneca. Distance and duration in the municipality's leaflets.
Start: picnic park by the Santa Helena chapel, Maçãs de Dona Maria · Circular
Crosses the Way of St James, passes through Pussos and the Fonte do Paço, a fountain with Templar heritage, and enters the Sicó-Alvaiázere Site of Community Importance, with a detour to two megalithic monuments.
Start: Fonte do Sobreiral → Fonte dos Cavaleiros · Linear
Links all the short trails: the hill's escarpment, galleries of alder and ash, limestone pavements, a Roman road and one of the largest Portuguese oak woods in Europe. It passes through Aveleira.

The long-distance route of the Sicó massif (Ansião, Alvaiázere, Condeixa-a-Nova, Penela, Pombal and Soure): 172 km in 8 stages. In Alvaiázere it includes the Olive Oil Route and the Portuguese Oak Route.
